Members of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board in Ogun State have been grouped into four committees to sensitize Christians on the reasons and advantages of embarking on Holy Pilgrimage.
The Chairman of the Board, Bishop Oludotun Ogunseye stated this at a meeting held with the Chairman, House Committee on Religious Matters, Hon. Edunjobi Babatunde at the State House of Assembly complex, Oke-Mosan.
Briefing the Committee Chairman on the activities of the Board since its inauguration, Bishop Ogunseye intimated that about 2,000 Pilgrims were been targeted to be airlifted for the 2012 Holy Pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece.
Bishop Ogunseye pointed out that the Board was collaborating with the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) to embark on a pre-visit to Israel, Rome and Greece to arrange for tour guides, accommodation, feeding and other ground handling arrangements so as to facilitate a hitch-free pilgrimage, adding that plans were underway to hold workshops for staffers and other stakeholders on the importance of holy pilgrimage.
The Board Chairman also appealed to the State Government to sponsor interested Christian citizens to this year’s holy pilgrimage as such gesture would be another avenue to further spread the dividends of democracy.
Responding, Hon. Edunjobi expressed confidence in the new Board.
He urged it not to relent but do everything necessary to have a hitch-free pilgrimage and pledged his committee’s assistance in whatever capacity.
